Introducing galleries

Shooting for 365 days straight is a great challenge. There are very few people that maintain a certain level of photos or manage to stay in the theme they chose at the beginning.

That's why we're introducing galleries today. This neat little feature lets you group your photos into separate folders. Why is it such a great feature? Let me show you few examples.

Create mini-series

Let's say you've got an idea for a series. You create beautiful images every few days and upload them to tookapic. The gap between those images are filled with just everyday pics from your 365 project. It looks random, and the series just doesn't look like a series.

You can now group your photos into separate galleries.

Sure, you could tag those photos with a unique keyword and group them that way. But still, to get to those pics someone would have to know that unique tag. And of course someone else could use that tag as well and mess your series up.

I recently started a small series with photos of still life. On my profile it looks random and not so good. But when you go to my Minimal Still Life gallery, it'll show you only the pics from the series. It looks nice and clean.

Looks much better, doesn't it? You can even add a description to your gallery so people would know what the series is about.

Staircases series. Lego bricks series. Sunsets series. You name it. I know that if we had this feature few months ago, I wouldn't have had to set up a separate account for my D.Vader series.

Keeping your favourites in one place

We all have our favourite photos taken during the 365 project. They are not always the most popular ones. It might be a good idea to create "Favourites" gallery and put all those most precious photos there.

Editing your gallery name and description is easy.

Keeping your streak pics aside

Creating a "Streak pics" gallery might also be a good idea. Have you ever wondered how many streak pics you've actually taken during your project?

How to use galleries?

As I mentioned before, galleries are only available for Heroes, so if you haven't upgraded yet, now is a good time. You will get 3 days free trial to look around all those shiny premium features.

How to create a gallery?

You can only create a new gallery while uploading a new photo or editing an existing one. If you're a tookapic Hero, you'll see a new option in the right hand side of your upload screen.

You can create as many galleries as you want. But be reasonable here. You don't want a thousand galleries for your 365 photos :)

How to edit gallery title and description?

To add or edit gallery's title and description you need to go to your galleries list at tookapic.com/yourusername/galleries and put your mouse over any of the galleries. Click Edit gallery to change the description.

Deleting a gallery requires an extra confirmation, so don't worry if you accidentally click the Delete link.

How to manage photo in my galleries?

Once you create few galleries you can add multiple photos to the galleries at once using the mass photo editor you probably already know. Simply select some photos and click "Add to gallery" link. You can also easily remove photos from gallery. Simply select the gallery you want photos to be removed from.
